DONUT

This is my first recipe in this blog, hope I will keep adding more.

Thinking of making donut for very long time, bought the donut as well as waffle tray, to try some recipe, as kids like donuts. When I was looking for the recipe I couldn't find any good recipe as most of them make fried donuts. I was looking for a baked donut recipe with some healthy options. Then finally I found this one. One good part about this recipe is that it uses a combination of whole wheat and maida (all purpose flour), and also uses honey along with sugar.

Things to collect before starting (for 12 donuts)

  1. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  2. 1 cup all purpose flour (maida)
  3. 1/2 cup sugar
  4. 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  5. 1/4 cup honey
  6. 1 cup yogurt
  7. 2 tablespoon unsalted butter (melted)
  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  9. 2 large eggs

Lets start making

  1. Take a big bowl for mixing, combine whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, sugar, baking powder and mix well.

  2. In another bowl, mix honey, yogurt, butter, vanilla extract and eggs.

  3. Mix the dry flour mixture (from step 1) into the wet mixture (from step 2). Stir well (sorry forget to click picture at this time).
  4. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit  (about 200 degrees Centigrade).
  5. Grease the donut tray with oil/spray.
  6. Pour the batter in the tray (I poured the batter with an ice-cream scoop). I used both a donut as well as a waffle tray.

  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until you get a nice colour.
  8. Take out the trays from the oven, allow the donuts to cool down completely.

  9. I put nutrela on top of some of the donuts. You can have them without any topping too. Enjoy with tea/coffee.
Note:
You can use any topping with sugar and cinnamon, strawberry, vanilla etc.
